Integrity
is the key to long-term success and is the cornerstone of the Kiskeya
brand. Through transparent business practices and genuine relationships
with our growers and master rollers, the Kiskeya brand upholds the highest
standards of trust and integrity whilst providing a quality product for our
customers.
Commitment to our farmers
Our founders have worked closely with experienced famers and master rollers who
are committed to providing the Kiskeya brand with the best cigar leaf
possible. We have worked extremely hard to form strong partnerships
with our growers by embracing fair trade principles, ethical practices and a
commitment to social responsibility.
In doing so, our farmers receive a fair price for their produce and labour
which in turn has a positive impact on sustainability and the quality of the
final product. The symbiotic relationship between our founders and
our cultivators is authentic and contributes to the character and unrivalled
quality of our cigars.
Our commitment and dedication to fair trade aligns with the values of our
customers and is central to the reputation and integrity of the Kiskeya brand.
The
tobacco leaves for Kiskeya cigars are harvested and aged using a
curing process that combines heat and shade to reduce sugar and water
content without causing the larger leaves to rot.
This
takes between 25 and 45 days, depending upon climatic conditions and the nature
of sheds used to store harvested tobacco.
A
slow fermentation follows, where
temperature and humidity are controlled to enhance flavour, aroma, and burning
characteristics while forestalling disintegration.
The
Kiskeya leaf will continue to be baled, inspected, un-baled, re-inspected, and
baled again during the aging cycle.
When
it has matured to manufacturer's specifications it is sorted for appearance and
overall quality, and used as filler or wrapper accordingly.
During
this process, leaves are continually moistened to prevent damage.
To this day quality
cigars are still handmade, Kiskeya`s included.
